Note from The Dialogue Of Apollodorus by Plato

Elis, Boeotia, and Sparta all belonged to the Dorian branch of the Greek race. Sparta, in particular, was notoriously given to homosexuality, possibly as a result of the barrack-room life to which her military organization confined her citizens. Boeotia was also celebrated for the slow-wittedness of its people.
