           Fred Hinton was  born  in  England  and  educated  at London
          University.

          He  has travelled  extensively,  having  served  on  Russian
          convoys, lived in  New  York,  and after escaping from a POW
          camp stayed in China, Tahiti, and the Christmas Islands, and
          served with the U.S. Seventh Fleet.

          With his family  he  lived in New Zealand. He now resides in
          Australia, and is a citizen of that country.

          His novels, "Elaine",  "Sarah", and "A Slight Transgression"
          have been widely read.
