Practical, with its implied antithesis of theoretical, means useful in practice. Practicable means capable of being carried out in action.
That which is practicable is often not practical. Anything that is possible of accomplishment by available means may be called practicable. Only that which can be accomplished successfully or profitably under given circumstances may be called practical. — (Weseen, Words Confused and Misused.)
