Disposal/Disposition
From 'Vocabulary' part of The ABC Of Plain Words by Sir E Gowers (1951)

For some purposes these words are interchangeable; for others they are so different that there is no danger of confusion. "When doubt arises", says Fowler, "it is worth while to remember that disposition corresponds to dispose, and disposal to dispose of". Thus disposition is the word for orderly arrangement and disposal the word for getting rid of.
