Rule 8 — Attitude Towards Spontaneity
G.R. Taylor's Rules of Matrism/Patrism Explained

Patrists resist spontaneity
Spontaneity is the immediate and unfettered display of instinct, which is self-indulgence. This is a threat to the control and restraint necessary for dutiful citizens, who are compelled to constantly suppress all their immediate reactions to only demonstrate suitable responses.

Matrist are spontaneous
Matrists are by definition spontaneous — without restriction — and they resent any restraint upon their natural urges.
