In 87 B.C., when the Mariall army under Cinna captured Rome, which was defended by Pompeius Strabo in the city and by Octavius on the right bank (including the Janiculan Hill). The historian Cornelius Sisenna (d. 67 B.C.) dealt with the period 91-78 B.C., but survives only in fragments.
