To judge is to invoke beliefs about right and wrong, so to judge an age of ignorance, superstition and insanity by invoking ignorance, superstition and insanity, as J B Bury suggests, is to repeat ignorance, superstition and insanity; which is a failure to understand History and is Historical Nonsense.
