Inigo Jones (1573-1652), King's Surveyor of Works, designed the church of St. Paul's, Covent Garden, and the piazza of Covent Garden for the fourth Earl of Bedford. Jones was fined under the Commonwealth as a "malignant." Covent Garden was famous for its theaters and coffeehouses.
