A slightly different account of this hilarious occasion was given by J. G. Lockhart in the Quarterly Review, lxii (1843), 65-6. As Lockhart recalled the scene, the demolition of the wine-glasses began when Hook pitched his through a window, to be followed in this act by Coleridge and the rest of the guests. In vino veritas?
